Mercedes Church of the Nazarene Leadership

Mercedes Church of the Nazarene is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Guadalupe Guajardo Jr

Senior Pastor


Guadalupe Guajardo Jr. Is the son of Andrea Guajardo and the late Guadalupe Guajardo, was born March 13, 1964 in Mercedes Texas. He is the husband of Maricela Guajardo and the proud father of Wally, Amy, Isaac and Byanca Guajardo and eight grandchildren. He was educated in La Villa Independent School and completed High School in Mercedes Texas. He attended T.S.T.I. In Harlingen, Texas and graduated 1983. He pursued a career as a diesel technician and is presently employed as Service manager with Holt Cat.

In February 1993, he received Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the Mercedes Nazarene Church. Through the years he has served in the Nazarene church as Sunday School teacher to the adolescence, High School, Young Adults, Sunday School Director, Steward president, Trustee president, Youth president, Men’s group ministry, Couple ministry, Zone children’s ministry, District Men’s ministry and District board over the course of 30 years.

On July 18, 2021 God led Guadalupe Guajardo to become the Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Mercedes. He currently holds a district license through Texas Oklahoma Latin District in the Nazarene Denomination. He is currently in the path of becoming a reverend.

Guadalupe has a passion and love for the broken hearted and broken marriage. During his spare time, he enjoys family time, working on small projects and outdoor sports.

Outside of his church duties, for the past 14 years, Guadalupe has been involved with South Texas College. For the past four years, he has served as president of the Diesel Advisory board.

Roger Villanueva

Assistant Pastor

Roger is the Assistant pastor at Mercedes Church of the Nazarene. He currently holds a district license through Texas Oklahoma Latin District in the Nazarene Denomination.

Roger is married to Jessica and has one son, Roger Luke. Though his college degree is in graphic design, he has spent countless hours in study and teaching of scripture. He has served as Youth Ministry President, Sunday School Teacher for English adults, and President of the stewards of the Church over the course of the last 13 years. He is currently on the path of becoming a reverend.

Roger has a passion for biblical Discipleship that builds Christlike people and strong communities. During His free time he likes reading, BBQing, the outdoors and especially spending time with His wife and son.
